2013 Global Citizen Festival to end extreme poverty in Central Park

THE 2013 GLOBAL CITIZEN FESTIVAL ON THE GREAT LAWN IN CENTRAL PARK ON SEPTEMBER 28, 2013 WITH STEVIE WONDER, KINGS OF LEON, ALICIA KEYS, AND JOHN MAYER

On Saturday, September 28, 2013, The Global Poverty Project, in proud partnership with the Cotton On Foundation, hosted the 2013 Global Citizen Festival on the Great Lawn of New York’s iconic Central Park. The Global Citizen Festival, which celebrated achievements made towards ending extreme poverty in this generation, featured performances by Stevie Wonder, Kings of Leon, Alicia Keys, and John Mayer, with a brief acoustic performance by Elvis Costello.

Sixty-thousand people joined the socially conscious musicians, celebrities, world leaders, including the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and the President of the World Bank, Jim Yong King, leading NGO partners, dignitaries and philanthropists while millions viewed online, to urge world leaders to take action towards ending extreme poverty by 2030.

The 2013 Global Citizen Festival was produced by DPS in partnership with AEG/Goldenvoice and Cable channels Palladia, Fuse, American Forces Network, Multishow/Globosat (Brazil) and Weekend Sunrise on the Seven Network (Australia) will simultaneously broadcast the charity music event live on their respective networks. Additionally, AOL, VEVO, Fuse.tv, The New York Times, Unite4Good.org, UN Web TV and GlobalFestival.com provided multi-platform live streams of the event.
