Cartier Welcomed Host Mary Hart and Festival Honorees Ben Affleck, Javier Bardem, Danny Boyle, Robert Duvall, Colin Firth, Jennifer Lawrence, Carey Mulligan, Natalie Portman, David O. Russell, Diane Warren and the cast of The Social Network.

Kicking off Awards Season, the 22nd Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival (PSIFF) Awards Gala, presented by Cartier, was held Saturday, January 8, 2011 at the Palm Springs Convention Center hosted by “Entertainment Tonight’s” Mary Hart.  Honorees were presented with an original Chihuly Glass Sculpture designed by Dale Chihuly, while the other honorees received the John Kennedy “The Entertainer” statue.

The Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala honors individuals in the entertainment industry with several prestigious awards for acting, director, achievement in film scoring and life achievement.  Cartier jewelry and watches were worn this year by select honorees and presenters including Amy Adams, Rashida Jones, Jennifer Lawrence, Mary Hart, Helen Mirren and Natalie Portman.  In addition, Cartier presented special gifts of a classic Cartier Tank Solo watch to each honoree at the Awards Gala to celebrate their achievement.  Ben Affleck, Darren Aronfsky, Danny Boyle, Aaron Eckhart, Jesse Eisenberg, Colin Firth, James Franco, Taylor Hackford, Rashida Jones, Helen Mirren, Carey Mulligan, David O. Russell, Oliver Stone, Mark Wahlberg and Diane Warren arrived in the Mercedes-Benz S400 Hybrid to the Festival red carpet.

The following awards were presented at this year’s Awards Gala:

  • Ben Affleck received the Chairman’s Award presented by Gone Baby Gone co-star Amy Ryan
  • Carey Mulligan received the Breakthrough Performance Award presented by her Never Let Me Go co-star Andrew Garfield
  • Colin Firth received the Desert Palm Achievement Actor Award presented by The Queen star Helen Mirren and his co-star in The King’s Speech Guy Pearce
  • Danny Boyle received the Sonny Bono Visionary Award presented by 127Hours James Franco
  • David O. Russell received Director of the Year Award presented by The Fighter cast Amy Adams and Mark Wahlberg
  • Diane Warren received the Frederick Loewe Music Award presented by Taylor Hackford
  • Javier Bardem received the International Star Award presented by his Goya’s Ghosts co-star Natalie Portman
  • Jennifer Lawrence received the Rising Star Award presented by Oliver Stone
  • Natalie Portman received the Desert Palm Achievement Actress Award presented by her Brothers co-star Jake Gyllenhaal
  • Robert Duvall received the Career Achievement Award presented by his Thanking You For Smoking co-star Aaron Eckhart
  • The cast of The Social Network Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield, Armie Hammer, Rooney Mara, Rashida Jones, Brenda Song, Josh Pence and Douglas Urbanski attended to receive the Ensemble Performance Award presented by the film’s director David Fincher
